Can I substitute butter for oil? I don’t love the taste of oil in my cakes even though I know it creates a very moist crumb

Can I make this cake in a loaf pan/muffin tin? Also instead of doing a compote on top can I bake fruit (frozen raspberries) directly into this cake?

Yes, you can bake this cake in other pans—I've heard that the loaf pan can lead to a bit of a collapse in the center, but it still tastes great. And yes to fruit stirred in or sprinkled on top!

I don't think you'll taste the oil here (thanks to the higher amount of sour cream), but sure, you could swap in melted butter.
