How high a temperature for egg wash?

How high a temperature can you use with egg wash? Can you use an egg wash at 425ºF or 450ºF (bread baking temperatures), or will the egg wash get too dark? I have had success gluing on seeds with a cornstarch mixture at those temperatures, but the overall look is not as appealing.
