Can I use Vidalia or Sweet Onions?

Have you tried this with sweet or vidalia onions? Does the same technique for reducing moisture work? Are they as good as with a red onion?

Yes. I've made the rings with sweet onions varieties (vidalia, maui etc) and they've turned out delicious. I prefer the milder flavor. I'm sure you could do it with red onions too.
