Use a Dutch oven and charcoals. (The way a pioneer did.) Boy scouts do this ALL the time...There are formulas for how many coals on top/bottom => diameter of D.O. I have been Grub Master on several occasions :)
You can make a cake without an oven in various appliances depending on which you have and type of cake you want. Search web for fridge, pressure cooker or slow cooker, microwave recipes. I remember hearing of a cake steamed on stovetop without an appliance, but couldn't find directions. Good luck.
