Why pre-toast the nuts for this recipe?
Just curious if you can skip this step, since they bars with nuts will be baking for 40 minutes anyway. Will it really change the taste that much if I don't pre-toast them?

When toasted, the hot air comes in direct contact with the pecans, toasting them. If you toss them in with other ingredients, they’re not getting the benefit of hot, dry air.
Toasting nuts really does change their flavor for the better.
