What is considered a summer squash

zucchini, yellow straightneck or crookneck squash, patty pan squash are all considered summer squashes. They are thin skinned, have light colored flesh, have a high water content, and cannot be stored like winter squashes.

Summer squashes come in various colors and shapes, but they all have thinner skin than winter squashes.

To me the photo looks like yellow (summer squash) zucchini.
