I added a bit too much cayenne to my lamb shanks..is there a way to neutralise it a abit?

If you add acid, fat or fruit, those elements or flavors will help balance the heat.
Or serve with (deliberately) bland carbs - bread, pasta, rice or potatoes - to absorb the heat.
