Could I substitute marinara sauce for the butternut sauce?

I don't see why you can't use whatever sauce you want to use. It's not as if the recipe writer will hunt you down and take away your pots and pans. Recipes are often just places to start the inspiration. They are not God given commandments, inscribed on stone tablets. So if you want to use marinara sauce instead of the butternut squash one, feel free.
