Recipe Question for Melissa Clark's Creamy Parsnip and Leek Soup with Bacon

On page 49 of Melissa Clark's Kitchen recipe book, the bacon is mentioned in the recipe title only and not in the ingredients list or instructions. Does anyone know when/how the bacon is to be incorporated?
