To clarify - when I put in on the paper towel to blot after taking it out of the pan.

Not sure how some combination of oil, crumb coating, starch and paper stuck together, but it did.
Another idea - maybe next time drain on a cooling or cookie rack.

I read the recipe. Although it didn't say it, I took the meaning of blotting on the paper towels as drop it on the towel, pat the top and then remove to another plate without the paper towel. Hope this helps
