The primary difference is that a quiche has a crust, and is baked in the oven like a pie (or deep tart). A frittata is made either on the stovetop alone, or is started on the stove and then finished in the oven - although sometimes people use only the oven, in which case, they are a lot like a crustless quiche. Both use eggs as a primary ingredient. A quiche typically has a fair bit of cream in the custard and often cheese. Frittatas sometimes have cheese, sometimes have vegetables of all kinds, etc., but they don't have to. ;o)
