What is the consistency of the cheese sauce supposed to be like?
I was expecting it to be like a béchamel, but after adding the cheese it became much thicker and stringier than I expected. Is that correct? I worry about being able to spread it!

If the cheese sauce is too thick to spread, drop it by spoonfuls when you assemble the lasagna. It will spread out in the oven as it bakes.
Last, looking at the recipe, there is a lot of cheese relative to the milk, so a thick sauce is maybe expected.
If too thick for you, but you like the flavors, next time cut amounts of cheese in half and leave everything else the sane.
