Biscuits turned red after baking

So I made some buttermilk biscuits and they turned out red inside after baking. I have rough idea what might have happened. The recipe calls for baking soda and baking powder along with buttermilk. Is it mallaird reaction? They pink to red hue once they came out of the oven. Does anyone have any idea what went wrong? I tried a small bite, taste pretty normal. Lol.

Maillard reaction is mostly browning on outside of food, not red or brown on inside.
From looking around, I see comments it's mostly harmless, but a few warnings about possible carcinogenic properties.
I would ask manufacturers of b powder and b soda, nutritionist and/or county extension service about safety of this color reaction.

Thank you. I knew Maillard reaction is completely different. I will have to ask around. I tossed it out. Didn’t feel like consuming it.
