Is the sugar amount in the recipe correct??

I am very interested in trying this recipe, but am skeptical of the amount of sugar. 3/4 cup?? With 1/2 cup each of water and vinegar, that's like and extremely sweet simple syrup (with a bit of an acid kick).

Sounds high to me.
Found a similar cauliflower salad recipe on food.com which used only 1/2c sugar.
Maybe go with that, or even start with 1/4c sugar, mix, taste and adjust as needed.
