Recipes on the Food52 home page

I'm wondering if the recipes at the top of the site's home page are selected by a human or are based on things we've read on the site, because of the three recipes on the right hand side, two have been Mapo Tofu and Rum Runner for what feels like months. It strikes me as odd because all the other content changes. For instance a Thanksgiving article appeared today (August 26) and it wasn't there yesterday.
