At what temp is this best served?

From the comments it seems as though this would be a good Thanksgiving appetizer that could be made ahead of time. In that case do you serve it all at room temp, or is it best to reheat the squash/onion mixture before assembling? (I’m trying to find an appetizer for Thanksgiving that I can transport but won’t inconvenience the host or require any oven space on my arrival!)

Agree with drbabs! Also, if you want you could prepare the toasts and ricotta in advance, and keep the squash warm in a low oven, if you wanted to serve it warm but be able to make it (mostly) ahead.

Or, if your travel time is less than half a day, consider packing the separated ricotta and squash in thermos jars or insulated bags. Then, as Amanda suggests, assemble at your Thanksgiving destination.

This is a great idea - I will try it. (I’m only traveling about an hour away.) Thanks all for the quick responses!

I’d serve it anywhere from warm to room temperature.
