What can I use for the crust instead of chocolate wafers?
I’ve heard that Nabisco is no longer making chocolate wafers. Any good substitutes you can recommend? I don’t want to use an Oreo-type (filled) cookie, but I don’t see other chocolate wafers at the store.

We’re you maybe looking at another recipe that used chocolate cookies for the crust, but posted your question attached to this shortbread recipe?
(There are no store-bought cookies or crust in this recipe.)
If you have the other recipe, please post a link to it and then someone here can address the cookie substitution question.
Hope this helps.

But yes Nabisco has discontinued making their Chocolate Wafers (memories of New Coke, anyone?).

Here's an article from The Spruce Eats, recommending cookies and/or ready-made pie crusts to use instead.

Two more ideas -
* buy a good quality plain cookie (vanilla wafer or the like) and mix it with cocoa powder or melted dark chocolate;
* search not-the-usual-aisles in your grocery store (aisles for international, restricted ingredients - keto or GF, kosher).
