Can I omit almond extract since I don't like that flavoring?

I don't love almond extract although I love almonds. If I omit it, do I need to add more vanilla extract or anything else?

I would substitute vanilla in both the cake and the topping. Thanks for asking. ;o)

I also dislike almond extract. I'd either take the red wine suggestion in the recipe, sub vanilla (though with a tablespoon already an extra 1/2 teaspoon wouldn't do much), or go rogue and add a tablespoon of bourbon or another dark spirit.
