4 hrs 30 Minutes Prep Time To Make The Crust
I'm kind of a novice here, but Im thinking of making this. at the top of the page right where it says jump to recipe, it says prep time of 4 hours and 30 minutes? I read the instructions, I dont think it will take me that long to make a crust....Is that an error? Just not understanding that...??

The dough needs to be rolled, folded and then chilled 4 times. It is chilled for 30 minutes each time.
You can't do short cuts with rough puff. If you try to knock time and/or steps off the prep, the butter will melt out of the dough and you will have a bad pastry result.
Agree with you Whiteantlers.
I also read the recipe as needed 45 to 60 minutes per fold and chill, so that gives 3 to 4 hours processing and another maybe half hour for prep and handling, so total 4 1/2 hours.
Heidi9728 - a few ideas for you. If you have the time and want to learn, take this recipe on as a project. Then you can have, freeze, use puff pastry in many dishes - sweet and savory.
If the 4 1/2 hours is too long in your schedule, look around in cookbooks or online - there are other recipes that follow the same method but use less chilling time.
If you need/want to make a recipe using puff pastry now and don't have time to make homemade, there are various ready-made packages in the freezer sections of regular grocery stores. For more quality in flakiness and taste, look for a brand that uses butter (not oil), though the oil ones are also OK>
