CAN ANY OF YOU BRILLIANT 52ERS HELP ME RE: THAI FOOD W/O FISH SAUCE?

For a long time i have wanted to cook Thai but i need to be vigilant about keeping my salt intake low. impossible w/fish sauce.do you think i could still create delicious thai food if i sub chicken or fish stock for fish sauce? if so, what are some of your fav. thai cookbks? thx much, mindy

No. There is no substitute for fish sauce.

Though it adds a distinctive umami taste, fish sauce IS very salty and I know of no replacement. Though not in your question, Thai curry paste is also loaded with sodium. However, if you make your own, you can severely reduce or eliminate salt and/or the main sources of salt in it (like shrimp paste).
Look for a replacement recipe for whichver (or all) the versions you like - red, green and/or yellow.
