I feel like an idiot but I’m not sure if you bake the crust with the apples or put the apples in after the crust had baked.

Thank you. For some reason I thought the crust was baked separately in a tart pan and somehow the two magically combined. Thanks so much.

Hi Jennifer! I hope I can help explain. In this recipe, after the apples have been cooked with the butter and sugar into a caramel and you've added the walnuts and rum-soaked raisins, the crust is added on top of the apples, directly to the skillet they have been cooked in. They then bake together until ready to invert onto a plate.

Hey Jennifer, you're not an idiot! I think we all feel like idiots trying out a new recipe sometimes :) in this recipe it looks like step 3 says the apples should be cooked in the caramel for about 15 minutes before the crust is draped over the top. Once the crust is on it should bake for 25 minutes at 400 degrees. Good luck!
