The berry apparently is .. The biggest two just got eaten up by birds.as soon as they turned a lovely shade of purple!.THe whole bunch is now covered by a teensy laundry bag! I've yet to see the fruits being used in regular cooking. Wikipedia says the seeds are toxic though!

Is the fruit edible? I think I saw these at my local farmer's market here in FL and did not know what they were.

yep.. in New Jersey,! it stays out in the yard in the spring & summer & I bring it inside for the colder months near a bright window.

nope, vanilla is a relative of the orchid & grows on trees,
I don't know what family the curry plant is related to..it grows into a tree if it were in its native habitat & not a large pot!. Hopefully I'll get to the seeds before the birds do!

wonder if it's a relative to vanilla. the flowers have a similar structure, based on line drawings at Wikipedia under "vanilla"
