I liked this

Okay, I'm reposting because I was bad and did not add tags. Lately I'm noticing that when I scroll back through foodpickles (miss the term, regardless of what spellcheck thinks) to which I've posted something, alongside my answers is *I (or You, sorry, can't remember which) liked this*. So, first, if I didn't, um, like what I had to say, I wouldn't have said it. But more important, I don't *like* my own answers. So why is this happening? I'll behave and add some tags

Hi everyone -- please help us out by sending any questions or concerns about food52 to [email protected], instead of posting them here. We designed foodpickle as a place for questions about food and cooking to be answered quickly -- but lately, we've seen it veer off course with conversations about food52's inner workings. This is confusing to new visitors and, worst of all, some urgent pickles have been buried before they can get an answer -- that's no good! Thanks for understanding and for helping us keep foodpickle doing what it does best.

Yes boulangere. T'was moi that 'liked' your last answer... Sometimes I wonder if we even need a 'like' button, We get questions answered by relevant experts and its fun to just read the whole thread.

Thanks, Peter! Not that I was losing sleep, but yes the implied narcissism was getting a little uncomfortable. Happy baking!

Hello all. Boulangere, indeed we have a bug where sometimes you end up "liking" your own answers or questions. It's plagued us for some time now but rest assured we're aware of it and will fix it.

For what it's worth, while what *you* see is something like "you liked this", all anyone else sees is "1 like". So while you may *appear* narcissistic to yourself, we continue to see you as the helpful Foodpickle-answering, Golden Nugget Bread-baking Boulangere. :-)

That glitch has cropped up before. I don't think your liking to reported to others, so no prob. Why shouldn't you like your own answer anyway if you feel like you rocked.

i noticed the change on the masthead this morning. felt kind of sad because foodpickle has so much personality-i missed it, i guess. noticed tonight that we have options with questions now-including "search questions". has that been there before today?

I've been away for a few weeks and just noticed the masthead change. Was feeling a bit lost...but suppose it will help others to find their way here.

As for the like issue, this has been going on since I started visiting food52 last year.

(Sorry if I caused you to have an earworm.)

I've been away from a computer all day. Didyou notice when the masthead changed from "foodpickle" to "ask a question"?

I like you,
You like me,
We're a happy family,
But when it says "You Liked This" thread,
Should it cause you to turn red?

No, it shouldn't, because the rest of us can't see that you "liked" yourself. I've seen that I've "liked" myself, but I've never seen "boulangere liked this" next to one of her own answers, even though it would be okay if it did.

LoL ....I have often thought of changing my screen name to "technical issues". But that "liking" my own answers was really bugging me! Couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong!

boulangere June 15, 2011
Yes, it does!

Panfusine June 15, 2011
happens to me too. makes me cringe with a twinge of embarrasment at the thought of 'liking' my own supposed 'words of wisdom'!

boulangere June 15, 2011
Good to know, thanks drbabs. For a while I thought I was hallucinating.

It must be some kind of glitch--it happens to me, too.
