Biscotti were invented to store very well for travel with armies and sailors. The sames goes for jams, and jellies. Chocolate, like truffles or chocolate bark - both easily made at home - last forever as well. Basically any kind of candy will work as well. If you're looking for savory, then you can do something like pepper jelly with home-made crackers, pickles, tins of nice sardines etc. You may want to throw some condiments in there too. I love receiving home-made ketchup or mustard (both really easy to make), or something like chow which is one of my favourite condiments.
