DonnyG Say's: I love Food52. Therefore I feel protective. I want Food52 to remain pure in it's form of cooks helping other cooks. The day that goes away we have all lost something! Please understand my actions.

Again thanks Mr. V, I find it funny one particular person continues to reiderate her point at nausium. I admit that it was a misperception on my part as to the allowance of people of business on Food52. I was defenitly trying to send a message that if that person was here to be a "troll" that I won't tollerate it. If that's being a bully then I think that meaning has become clouded. I think people are just looking to get a little cheap jab in as the do when we offer our advice and they disagree. I find it even more funny that Editors@Food52 felt the need for the last post. A little over reaching. I guess I'm seeing that this site is more about promoting than I intially thought. Because of foodpickle I thought it held itself a little higher than a propaganda machine. I want to thank you for your kind words and say that I've only noticed your posts most recently but always enjoy what you have to say. Thanks!

This is the last I will say on the subject. I have nothing personal against DonnyG or anyone here for that matter. I do however feel that his posting was way over the line and borderline threatening when he posted (which, by the way, was removed by food52) just how "rude" he could get and how he said "I don't want you here". This person was not a troll in any way, shape or form, but rather was contributing useful information to the site. I'm hoping that DonnyG's intentions were good and not meant to really drive the person away, so with that, enough. I'm over it and moving on. Have a great night everyone.

DonnyG, I am sad to see so many people ganging up on you. You spoke your peace in a way that best conveyed your opinions. I agree that there are some people out there who are hypocritical when it comes to sensitive subjects like "cyber bullying" (whatever that is). The internet should be a safe place for people to express themselves, and protesting is a part of that. Food52 has a very nice community and I too would be saddened to see it taken over by "trolls" and the like. I understand you wanting to protect this place.

CaryNC-Now that you have posted your protest how are you any different. One could say that the tone of your post is rude and invading this thread. And that's all I was doing was protesting.

CaryNC October 28, 2010
I am sure you are well intentioned. However, you are not approaching this "protectiveness" in a professional manner. You invade other peoples thread with your agenda, which in itself is more offending than someone with an opinion. If someone was posting advertising information I am sure the owners and moderators of the website are quite capable of addressing it. Please contribute to the forum and not police it in this rude manner.

@food52-I thought we were already clear on that.

Food52 and Foodpickle are open to and welcome home cooks of all stripes -- chefs, bloggers, and founders of food businesses included, as long as they are providing content meant to help or inform others -- because we feel strongly that we can all learn from each other. Mr.Vittles-love it! By the people for the people... Love it!

I haven't seen any taunting. I think if members think there is 'schilling' going on, they should contact the admins of the site and let them deal with the issue. I would really hate to see this site turn ugly. I find most people here kind and helpful. I'll be the first to go if that changes.

@BrookeNY, Way to go... keep blowing this out of proportion... your doing great!!! keep up the good job! Freedom of speech=cyberbullying.. yah great job! So funny.

@phyllis-I want to thank you for all of your input (earlier post on this subject as well) I was not aware that Amanda & Merril approve the members of this sight (Not sure if they keep up with who all members are). I thought it was just another business sneeking in under disguise. I've seen a few good cooking forums turn bad due to somebody coming on and start directing people to thier site. (annoying at best). And in most cases these forums were self policed by the participants. I still think that if someone is going to be a member here that they should not have thier business names as thier screen name and business info only on thier bio. If you allow that to happen then what else is going to be allowed. But, Like you said it's Amanda & Merril's site. Not mine. I just hope if this site starts to get over run with business's targeting us in postings that it will not be allowed. I personally don't like hidden agenda's.

I saw with my own eyes all of DonnyG's taunts. Including the one where he stated that he can get quite rude and doesn't want so and so here period. If that isn't cyber-bullying, I don't know what is. There is room for all here and furthermore, I saw no evidence of this so called schilling by the other party.

Mr_Vittles October 28, 2010
Good on you DonnyG!!! I think "you know who" does not need to be here schilling their stuff! Keep Food52 for the people, by the people!!!

phyllis October 28, 2010
I made a comment on the original post. I don't @DonnyG was cyberbullying. He has a strong opinion and expressed it, but it's Amanda and Merrill's site and they should have the last say about who can join.

Oh now I'm a cyber bully, Thanks for blowing things out of proportion. Your a big help.

Food52 October 28, 2010
Thanks DonnyG, we appreciate your participation and your loyalty to food52. Let's all try to keep it a welcoming place.

BrookeNY October 28, 2010
Cyber-bullying just isn't correct in any from. Your motives may be in your perception, pure, but to bully other members off the site is really not cool.
