Still can't edit ingredients.... ;-( I've tried, and tried and tried all weekend now to delete an errant ingredient and although it disappears when I click the "X" on the right hand side of the ingredients list, as soon as I hit "publish" - it pops right back up again. So frustrated. Hopefully, on Monday, someone can take a look at it.
Sorry to hear this. When I click on your profile, I'm able to see the recipes you've added (I can't see the ones you've saved because that's hidden for other users). Can you let me know if you're on a Mac/PC and which browser?
Yes! Draft feature will be very much appreciated! Especially for us hunt and peck typists! But I know I need to block out a chunk of time before I can sit down to write, so I have been known to get started with my ingredient lists or part of the steps and then write in the step section that I will be back ASAP to finish..then i would come back and "edit" my recipe with the remaining steps..feels a little bit like cheating, but sometimes it was the only way!
lorigoldsby, I typically have a ridiculously short window of available time to post recipes here (and it's usually well after 8 PM on contest deadline night, when the deadline is 9 PM), so I type each recipe into a Word document when I can snatch a few minutes here and there. Then I can print and edit it in hard copy before posting. Once the recipe is drafted in Word, I simply select, copy and paste the text into the boxes on the recipe page. It works really well! Of course, I often edit once the text is in the boxes, and then need to read through and edit again once it's published, but it's a good workaround until saving is an option. ;o)
I do the same, AntoniaJames because it lets me type up the recipe at a more sane pace. I print a copy and use it to make the final version, then edit, then copy and paste to post. That said, I do that because there isn't a Draft function on the website, which would be most welcome.
I'll probably continue to do it this way, even after the save feature is added (unless I'm traveling and have no access to a printer), simply because this old dog has not yet learned the new trick of flawless proofreading and editing in anything other than hard copy. Unless I'm up against the bewitching 9 PM Pacific time deadline (which happens more often than I care to admit), I always print my recipes after publishing, too, and edit once or twice again. ;o)
I was one of the users who had a hard time adding a recipe, but I persevered and found out that I could add a recipe from the current contest page as opposed to the recipe page. It took a few additional minutes for me to figure it all out, but it wasn't a big deal. It did not discourage me from posting recipes. By the way, Amanda, I do like the new recipe format. It seems much more intuitive and easier to navigate than the old template. I particularly like all of the additional categories and the tutorials for each field, but I must confess I do miss getting to personalize our tags. I also wish that there was a way to save a recipe as a draft. I often find that I spread out writing out the recipes that I post over a period of time.
Thank you for your note -- and we appreciate you taking time to figure out a work-around. Of course, we wish you didn't have to do this in the first place! Adding a draft feature was on our list for re-launch be we didn't finish it in time, but please keep an eye out for it. Seems to be a universally desired feature (I would certainly love to have it, too!).
Ellenl, no need to infer doom! In fact, member sign ups are up and many of the technical issues we had have been resolved. There have definitely been some technical hiccups around getting to the "add a recipe" page but I think most people would agree that the new recipe form is much clearer and easier to use than the old one!
I'm finding it a little harder to keep up with the new schedule - I'm not really sure when new contests will come, and would like to know what the next contest is. So I'm losing track of the new recipes... :-(
@BlissfulBaker that's precisely how i view recipes, i don't even ever look at the landing page. i have the recipes page bookmarked and then i just hit new recipes. i'm really wondering if, say, we could get a month before the redesign to a month after the redesign (but not *right* after the redesign, to account for new functionality confusion).
@Amanda i really like the redesign, actually, but if the posting numbers are going down overall, maybe the workflow for posting should be examined?
Not to call you out hyphenhermann but I see that you have been a member since Jan 2010 and have not posted a single recipe. Food52 works because we inspire each other! A classic recipe that you love would be much appreciated! It doesn't have to necessarily be a contest entry...especially now with the expanded time...so c'mon...share!

Luvcookbooks is right. The recipes are there, but they're harder to find now. If you click the Recipes Tab, it highlights just a few recipes, making it seem like hardly any are being posted. But if you click on "Newest Recipes" on the left, they all show up. I counted 98 from the last week. I wasn't counting before the redesign, so don't know how that compares, but it seems like a reasonable number to me. That said, many active users are taking a Food52 vacation until all the bugs get worked out, but I'm sure they'll be back.
In general, we've had fewer recipes getting posted since we changed our contest schedule from weekly to every other week. So instead of having 150 recipes come in during a single week, it gets spread over 2 weeks. We did this to cut everyone a break -- we worried we were exhausting our most dedicated cooks! -- and to give more prominence to each recipe contest cycle.
I enjoy browsing through new recipes (the one week's worth) and noticed there were 122 last week, which is pretty standard for a contest week (non contest weeks are lower yield but a fascinating mix). Because of problems with posting recipes in the first days of the redesign, the number did go down temporarily, but I think it's back up. The latest contest had double the recipes of your best roast as well. This may relate to the expense of testing roast recipes, tho, as well as the difficulty posting.
