Need birthday cake/cupcake recipe for baby's first birthday

I'm a cook, not a baker! And I need a simple but tasty cake or cupcake recipe that is also baby friendly (no nuts or chocolate please). Thanks!

Carrot cake would be nice too, just leave out the nuts.
