I am planning to make Louisa's Cake for a lunch at my daughter's school. Any suggestions, advice, tips about a fruit compote to go with it?

Here is a link to Louisa's cake http://www.food52.com/recipes.... Since this is a holiday lunch, I am thinking about possibly doing a cranberry compote. For those who have made this cake, would that work? Would love to hear what fruit pairings/compotes other Food52ers have served with this cake. Thank you!
