...Read MoreRead more about It's the classic children's book (Theooks like this one sits in a weird space: at their, um, commanding price points, maybe these books could be bound in true full-grain / Vachetta leather as the company does for some of their other books for not much more extra cost, but that seems like overkill for children's books like these.
At least, the attractively adorned bonded-leather cover and the pages feel like they can take a reasonable beating, although only time will tell how durable the binding will be. Also, the tiny black dot-like residue spots I found on the back of my The Giving Tree book cover don't annoy me as much as when I found one on a Vachetta leather cover of another product; I was able to delicately remove some spots with my fingernail (the attached photo shows two spots near the center and lower-left where that didn't work; if they don't appear there then that's good news too I guess). I don't see this residue on every Graphic Images book copy, but I'm hoping that the company sorts this out soon so that zero books ship out with the residue in the first place, considering the price tags / upscale presentation of these products.
This review so far sounds very mixed and not-4-star-like so I probably should make this clear now: I really do like this product, and I overall like the work that Graphic Images puts out. This version of The Giving Tree that I bought feel simultaneously elevated and yet familiar; they would make absolutely fantastic gifts for people who can justify the price tag and hopefully get tolerably blemish-free copies .
