A Bring-Your-Own-Potato Hanukkah Party

Hanukkah starts tomorrow evening, which means you should throw a fried potato-themed dinner party. Ask all of your guests to arrive at sunset with two potatoes of their choice (call it BYOP). All that's left for you to do is buy a roll or two of paper towels (frying can get messy) and make some applesauce ahead of time (ready a main course and dessert, too, if you have time). When your friends arrive, put them to work grating potatoes and chopping onions, then let them lounge around drinking wine as you move latkes straight from the frying pan to a serving platter. Light the hanukiah, play a rousing round of dreidel, and then, onto the donuts.
