The (Slightly Confusing) Avocado Trend That's Taking Over Instagram

April  4, 2016

You're sick of us writing about not writing about avocado toast, right? Okay, fine. Fine!

But what if we told you there was a whole new avocado movement sweeping the country Instagram.

BEHOLD! The avocado rose.

We'll check back in after @thedelicious gives us a tutorial.😉💚 #avocadorose (Photo: @thedelicious, #RSlove)

It's on omelets:

You don't know what you see, do you?😊 It is just the perfect snack: omlette with avorose, bee pollen and gojiberries, it's kinda natural sweet treat, which has just a perfect macronutrition balance.👌 It's also an entry for a brilliant hungarian challange hosted by @dorkaland (check her profile for beautiful fitfood photo), but now is no reason to translate in english. ❤️ #fitlifehighfive #fitspiration #mik #mutimiteszel #mutimiteszel_fitt #mik_gasztro #ikozosseg #healthyeating #iifymgirls #eatclean #cleaneating #healthydiet #instafood #gymfood #paleo #paleofood #foodie #fitfood #healthyeating #fitlife #fitspo #foodstagram #feedfeed @thefeedfeed #mgfitnessmg #egg #avocadorose #avocado #superfood

It's, as you've noticed, very good friends with yellow yolks:

And yes, yes, yes, it's on toast. It's on toast a lot:

It's on our minds and in our dreams and not yet in our bowls—and it's making us as confused as it might be making you.

Rebecca Maier offered an explanation on her Instagram account: "Point is not if avo shaped as a flower would taste any better, or any different. Point is that it simply makes you smile, as it's indoubtedly [sic] nicer and funnier than an 'average' one."

And by now, you want to know how to make your own avocado rose, don't you? This video from Kelly's Food Blog will show you the way:

I used to work at Food52. I'm probably the person who picked all of the cookie dough out of the cookie dough ice cream.

Some time ago my daughter wrote original recipes with avocados. As a clinical researcher, I tried to understand why avocado was conquering the world at a so fast path. I found a great number of health benefits in avocado, then how avocado must be combined to make your food become a real medicine. "The Avocado Affair" the 200 pages book is now available on my website and from March in all bookstores. www.starknakedhealth.com

I can hear my mom yelling "Stop playing with your food!"

Certainly caught my eye. I eat several avocados a week in multiple variations. My fav is on sourdough with unsalted sardines (Trader Joes are good and budget friendly). A smear of good horseradish mustard and cracked pepper. But for presentation, lovely. It will be a trick to finesse, though as when they are at their best, they are firm enough to cut, but soft enough to smash without much effort. So getting that rose--or tulip--will take some practice I would think. But then I'm all thumbs. So I usually go for taste.

Awesome! I have a gluten free child and she LOVES avocados, and just like me, eats with her eyes. Can't wait to surprise her with this!

And if you cut it with a ceramic knife it won't oxidize for like forever, if you can keep from eating it that long.

Your "actual rose" is a tulip.

I was just going to post: a rose is a rose is a rose is a rose...except when it's a tulip.
