Our Baking Club members have been busy making their way through Luisa Weiss' latest cookbook, Classic German Baking. We've learned we're much better at baking than we are at pronouncing German words—even with the help Luisa's pronunciation guide in the back!

Baking isn’t just something we like to do for fun though. It can also be a way to give back and raise money to help end child hunger in America when it's part of a bake sale for No Kid Hungry. Celebrating the last day of school!! My son was sad about it-he didn't want the school to end, he said especially the last week with no homework! Happy Friday With Black Forest Torte-Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte, recipe from #classicgermanbaking @wednesdaychef this is one of my favorite cakes to bake. I've always loved it, when I got the book I couldn't wait to find the time to bake. I used the cherries I picked-there were a bunch of them that were sour, not too sweet, so I pitted and simmered in sugar and a little bit of kirsch. This time of the year is bittersweet I get emotional-kids are finishing their current grade, grown another year, it's halfway mark of the year. It's been very slow since I quit the school kitchen, it was a little challenging for couple months but things started happening and I think I'm in a good place-I don't know how and where I'm going from here-i remind myself to trust that everything will be ok.
