I'm an ex-economist, lifelong-Californian who moved to New York to work in food media in 2007, before returning to the land of Dutch Crunch bread and tri-tip barbecues in 2020. Dodgy career choices aside, I can't help but apply the rational tendencies of my former life to things like: recipe tweaking, digging up obscure facts about pizza, and deciding how many pastries to put in my purse for "later."

Anything with lots of fresh fruits and yogurt/ricotta/Labneh. Fruits pump me up in the morning. I springle a few seeds and goji berries on top

Nancy Silverton's Bran Muffins are beyond delicious. So easy and filling. I make them every week!

Toasted sourdough bread, a schmear of almond butter, a sprinkle of sliced almonds, and a drizzle of local honey. It's quick, full of protein, and hits all the right tastebuds. Yum!

Not a recipe, but my favorite breakfast is a mixture of Muesli, flax, chia and hemp seeds, coconut flakes, walnuts, flesh of a small sweet potato, pumpkin pie spice, maple syrup, and coconut milk. Trying to figure out how to turn all of that into a scone or muffin.....
