If you're unfamiliar with Dansk—the Danish design brand that was founded in 1954 and has been part of the Food52 family for a while now—we'll bring you up to speed. From 1954 until the early 1980s, Dansk's designs were created by the Danish sculptor and designer, Jens Quistgaard. Pieces under the Dansk name are known for their iconic mid-century aesthetic and bright, bold color palettes. They're multi-functional (the lid of the Købenstyle saucepan, for example, doubles as a trivet), durable enough to last decades, and are uniquely beautiful wares you'll want to have out on display.

We might be a little biased, but here at Food52, we're big fans of Dansk's cookware, baking dishes, and serving accessories. So, we thought it was time to check in with our team to see which pieces from the Dansk lineup they find absolutely essential. From a small butter warmer to a wood salad set, here are five of our staff members' favorites.

1. Dansk Købenstyle Butter Warmer, $48

Don't be fooled by the name of this super-cute piece of cookware. Food Stylist Anna Billingskog raves about how it's “the perfect small pot for so many things, not just butter.” She also uses it reheat coffee and warm and froth milk. It's part of our Købenstyle collection—bundled together for the first time—and now in two, new limited-edition colors.

5. Dansk Wood Classics 3-Piece Salad Bowl Set, $120

Is the Dansk sauce pan easy to clean like non stick?

Nicole D. October 2, 2023
Hi Nancy! Yes, it is, I have the 2 QT and find it very easy to clean and maintain (I keep it on my stovetop and use it for rice, soups, boiling pasta and potatoes.) There are more reviews here that speak to it being easy to clean: https://food52.com/shop/products/3718-food52-x-dansk-kobenstyle-saucepan

Would it be possible to share what style Dansk dishes and flatware you intend to bring back? So glad you are doing this!

The dishes in the top photo look like my Mom’s which I know have. The outer rim of my Mom’s has ridges though. They are from the 1970’s. Timeless pieces. I will share photos when I get home. Dansk has been in our family since the early 70’s. My Mom had great taste.

I am a long time fan of all things Dansk. I have the dishes shown in your photograph..the charcoal and white...I have had them for about 50 years so have long since lost the name of the design. Would you be able to tell me the name so I can try and fill in some broken and missing pieces? THank you!!!

Do your dishes have the ridges in the charcoal colour?

mary K. June 10, 2023
No...there are no ridges. Thank you for trying to help.

Mine looks just like the set in the picture above.

Looking for the vintage Dansk wooden salt & pepper mills you show in the above photo. Searched the entire site and do not see it. Surprised that you would show it in the photo and not have it for sale??

Hi mbbermanlaw! We wish we had those items in stock. The good news is, we plan to reissue a fresh set of vintage Dansk goods this fall, and at least one pepper mill will be part of that collection with more to follow.
