I pre made mini meat pies with puff pastry and froze them. Should I put them in the oven straight from the freezer or put them in the fridge

I'd suggest thawing in the fridge also. The only thing you want to avoid with puff pastry is letting it get warm, at room temp in other words, before baking.

Let them defrost a bit so the crust and meat cook thoroughly.

I'd put them straight in the oven, but up the cooking time. Defrosting usually leads to sogginess with frozen puff pastry.
