cake pan conversion- spring form pan

I want to make the almond cake from my new Food and Wine magazine. It calls for an 11 inch springform pan but I only own a nine inch. I've never made and almond cake should I convert the recipe to my 9 inch pan? Or just fill it two thirds full?

I would cut the recipe by 1/3. (2 eggs instead of 3, 2/3 cup milk instead of 1 cup, etc.)
