Basil paste in a tube in place of fresh basil

Couldnt find fresh basil last time I was at the store.
I'm making a recipe tonight that is a pasta with Brie, bacon and basil.
I bought basil paste, but I've never used it before.
Is there a good rule of thumb for how much basil paste to use for fresh basil?

I really appreciate your input.

My recipe calls for 12 fresh leaves of basil. How much basil paste should I use ?

Basil paste can sometimes be a bit more intensely flavored than just minced fresh basil (which is what i assume your recipe called for?) If it's added to a pasta recipe as is, i recommend adding half or a third of basil paste than the recipe calls for, and add more according to taste.
