did not wash spelt before risotto!

Am in the middle of cooking risotto with spelt berries and am just realizing the recipe did not ask me to soak the berries first. Do I just need to cook longer or is it a lost cause?

It will need to cook a little longer and probably require a bit more liquid, but it's not a lost cause.
