I have a question about the recipe "One Pot Kale and Quinoa Pilaf" from deensiebat. Could this be done with pearled barley instead?

I have done this for a quinoa recipe, where I didn't have enough quinoa. I started to barley first since it takes longer, then added the quinoa. I actually liked the chewiness of the barley in the recipe!
