what can be substituted for cream in a recipe if we are lactose intolerant?

It depends a lot on what you are making - sometimes a non- dairy milk works; for a recipe where you need body and a neutral taste silken tofu can be substituted and coconut cream is used a lot in desserts. If the cream is just to enrich the recipe you might want to leave it out completely

You can also find a variety of non- dairy creamers and lactose free items in the dairy case, but I don't like the amount of processing they go through so I avoid them for cooking.
