Is it safe to freeze uncooked meatloaf mixture, which contains 2 raw eggs, or does it need to be cooked first, then frozen? TIA

Freezing food is preserving food.It doesn't matter if it is raw or cooked; it just matters that the protein was good/unspoiled when it went into the freezer.I have frozen plenty of meat and poultry dishes for alot longer than 3 months, and had no taste problems but raw fish seems to suffer, texture and flavor-wise, if frozen longer than 3-6 months. "They say" that it is unhealthy to defrost protein, change your mind about using it and refreeze. That is a No No.

I do it all the time. I have a great natural butcher. But to get a good price on the ground beef, I need to buy large quantities at a time. I make the loafs, wrap in foil and then place in a large freezer bag.
Pull out the night before to defrost in the fridge. Then straight in the oven when I get out of work.

It can be safely frozen if used within 3 months. Thaw in refrigerator over night.
