Hi Linda, You can remove the springform side after the cake has been refrigerated overnight (before you decorate it).
Hi Linda! I remove the side (ring) when the ice cream cake is frozen before decorating it with chocolate. You could of course decorate it with the ring still on, but I like the slightly wobbly freehand look.
