I have a question about the recipe "Creamy Butternut Squash Soup with Sherry" from Merrill Stubbs. Can I substitute other winter squashes or pumpkin, as I have an abundance of both at the moment?

Yes, you can. It will come out best if you use a dense, rich squash variety similar to butternut.
