Check out step two, you're making pesto with the basil and the cashews: "Blend Thai basil, 1/4 cup coconut oil, cashews, 1 tablespoon chili paste, and the diced red bell pepper until creamy and smooth. Set aside." So no need to chop anything ahead of time, just add all of those ingredients into a food processor and blend.
