would this go well with either an orange or lemon curd?

I have made this with lemon curd (a recipe also found on Food52) and it works perfectly.

I'd save the curd for something else. In my case, I'd eat it from the jar all by myself. :-)

With this cake, I'd prefer something a little less acidic than citrus, like a pureed pear sauce. Or the heated-up strawberries (or raspberries) the author mentions.

With just a squeeze of fresh lemon added to the pears, strawberries or raspberries

Definitely yes to both! I think lemon curd especially with the tanginess of the citrus. Any fruit would pair well with this cake.

I think either would go well because of the bright acid notes in the fruit against the meaty rich background of nut/coconut. Consider also - if you like them - raspberry or tropical fruit garnishes.

Omg...what curd wouldn't it go well with?! While I'm partial to a classic lemon curd....I think this would go really nicely with a passion fruit curd, if that suits your fancy.
