Can we strike comments that do things like make a burrata-fennel salad dairy-free by subbing apples? What a useless, recipe-destroying comment.

This ten month old comment?

"I wanted to eliminate the dairy, but felt it needed something else, so I put in some shaved granny smith apple and arugula - yum!"

Whilst apple and arugula in no way substitute for burrata in terms of flavour, texture or point of being in the salad, it's an innocuous comment that can be easily skipped.

It would be a problem comment if it were linked to rating the recipe though, as the commentator didn't actually make the recipe, or if it were offering advice on what to substitute burrata for. But it isn't.

So as Horto says, chill. Next time such a comment appears, don't let it offend, just let it pass you by.

I too dislike questions where they want to sub out main ingredients and still think
it's the same recipe.
No chill necessary!

I personally appreciate these types of comments because I cannot tolerate recipes with too many dairy products. And they are especially helpful when I cook for my dad and sister who have several food allergies.

"Recipe-destroying"?

A bit dramatic.

I don't take it as she is trying to replace the cheese with Apple's. I take it as she can't/won't eat dairy, but she wanted to add another flavor to the fennel.
