Could I substitute canned butternut squash? And if I want to freeze one of the loaves, should I leave it unfrosted?

How do you puree the butternut squash? Cut it up and roast and then puree the pieces? Or some other method? Thanks!

You could use canned, unspiced pumpkin too....the flavor difference between the two is negligible, especially when canned.
