Has anyone made Ruth Reichl's Swiss pumpkin? I'm looking for a knockout entree for my friend's birthday dinner.

If you've made it, I'd love to hear what you thought about it. If you have ideas for a different pumpkin-y main dish I'd love to hear about that too. Thanks!

Dorie Greenspan recipe...as she described it, "hollowed-out pumpkin stuffed with bread, cheese, garlic, and cream..."

I've never followed Ruth Reichl's recipe, but I've made this dish many times, sometimes with sage, sometimes not. It's incredibly simple to make, tastes great and, as you say, is a knockout on the table. (You won't need a centerpiece….the pumpkin will be burnished, golden and beautiful.)

Unless you're serving vegetarians, I'd also serve some porky thing with this. Marcella's pork with red wine vinegar, bay and pepper would be perfect.http://www.whatscookinchicago.com/2011/07/pork-with-vinegar-bay-leaves.html
