Yes, on both counts - cream cheese and maple syrup.
I certainly agree on the cream cheese ( though why exactly does cream cheese last for for so long?) but I do not think for short term maple syrup would be an issue. Most references on maple syrup storage say store in fridge to prevent mold development over time and it seems many people successfully, as have I, kept maple syrup at room temperature.

Long term storage, absolutely....but the need isn't urgent. If they sit out for a few hours during service, they will be fine.
