I am baking cookies with a maple. frosting that is really a cream cheese frosting with maple syrup. Need refrigeration??

I certainly agree on the cream cheese ( though why exactly does cream cheese last for for so long?) but I do not think for short term maple syrup would be an issue. Most references on maple syrup storage say store in fridge to prevent mold development over time and it seems many people successfully, as have I, kept maple syrup at room temperature.
