I need to make mashed potatoes, and then drive them four hours, and promptly serve them with very little reheat time. Will they be ANY good at all?

Put them in a slow cooker & reheat on warm when you get there.

I have made this recipe the day before thanksgiving and it was great. They do need 20 mins in the oven before serving. I snuck them in the oven after we pulled out the turkey to rest before carving. Can you snag 20 mins of oven time?

Yes! 20 minutes is just about perfect. You and Kate agree. Wonderful.

Hi Claire!

I think they will be amazing! I have made make-ahead mashed potatoes loads of times to wonderful results. Plus, Ina Garten recommends it, so there is rhat, as well. Just be sure to let the potatoes come to room temperature about an hour before reheating and heat to 165 degrees. Here's a great recipe that only takes 20 minutes to reheat: https://food52.com/recipes/38993-silver-palate-s-thanksgiving-potatoes

Hope this helps, and best of luck!

Phew. Thanks! I only eat mashers at Thanksgiving, and have only ever had them fresh. Thanks for the link.
